R.I.P., John Ford

Paul Pearson reports the following…

John J. Ford, a friend and correspondent of Merton, died in Louisville on Monday at the age of 84.

After the death of John Slate, a Columbia classmate and attorney who’d been working with Merton on setting up his literary estate in 1967, John Ford took over this role at the suggestion of their mutual friend James Wygal. John Ford continued as the attorney for Merton’s estate up until his death on Monday.

Some of his correspondence is stored at The Thomas Merton Center at Bellarmine University…
