The Geography of..Merton and Berry

John J. O’Brien is a Passionist priest who teaches liturgy, sacramental theology, and Catholic Social Teaching at Blessed John XXIII Seminary and Anna Maria College in Paxton, Massachusetts.  He will present “Seeing”: Landscape as Soulscape, Thomas Merton and Thomas Berry in Conversation.

Here is how he describes it.  “Prades and St. Antonin, Gethsemane, and the geography of his final journey enabled Merton to ‘see’ a numinous soulscape. This presentation places Merton’s landscape in conversation with Thomas Berry’s sacred universe, Merton’s intersubjective communion with creation, the healing power of these bioregions, and his critique of the petroleum age.”
